It can be extremely hard for some people to muster up the courage to speak in public but there are a few things that you can do which will not only make you feel more comfortable when it comes time to deliver your speech but they will allow you to perform better when the time comes. With practice these public speaking tips are going to make you feel much better the next time you are going to have to some public speaking.

I cannot stress enough how important preparation is when it comes to public speaking, the more time you spend practising and going over your lines the easier it is going to be on the day.

Try not to get too stressed out on the day, I know this may seem hard but if there is anything that you can do to make yourself more relaxed like listening to your favourite music or going for a long walk, whatever helps you to relax will be something that you should try and make time for of the day of the public speaking appearance.

Drink plenty of water during the day because this will help your brain to be more alert and you will find it easier to focus on the job in hand. Just remember to go to the toilet before you have to go on stage!

Try not to use too many visual aids during your speech. Having a few slides is a great way to get your point across sometimes but the audience will want to hear what you have to say and having to many things like slides and other visual aids can take the personal touch away and people then become bored and lose interest.

You must know who your audience are. Before you even write your speech you will need to know what the group of people are going to be like, their interests, background, anything you can find out about them will help you in writing a speech that is going to have them interested in what your saying and hanging on your every word.

If you are struggling with a public speaking fear then follow these tips and you will be able to control the room like a pro.

To get the course that helped me to overcome my public speaking fear you can Click Here

Do you have a public speaking fear? Don’t worry I know how you feel because I too used to be absolutely terrified of public speaking, so much so that it was holding me back from getting a promotion at work.

These tips are your first step to overcoming your public speaking fear and being able to speak with confidence and charisma!

Rehearse Your Speech

This seems like quite an obvious thing to do but it is quite surprising how many people don’t actually do this and then they wonder why it all fell apart when it came to speech day. You will certainly thank yourself for being well prepared.

Take Control

I know that this may seem very difficult to comprehend when you have a public speaking fear but if the crowd can see that you are struggling and are not in control of the situation then you may get a heckler or someone who wants to take the stage for themselves.

Wear Your Best Suit

It is a well known fact that when you look good, you feel good about yourself and will have a lot more confidence, so it is important to make your self look your very best.

Don’t Forget Your Speech

Obviously you don’t want to be stood on the stage reading straight from your speech but if for some reason you forget where you got to or just have a bit of a memory melt down then having your speech handy just as a reference can save you from potential embarrassment.

Many people around the world suffer from public speaking fear and there is really no need why people should have to live with it, like anything in life, with the right teacher and resources anybody can become an amazing public speaker who has everybody eating out of their hands.

If you are having trouble with your public speaking fear then you should get help and advice from the experts just like I did! After their training I managed to get the promotion that I was after for months.

There a few things that you should never do when speaking in public but unfortunately these mistakes seem to be very common, either when people are preparing or making their speeches. As long as you stay well away from these 4 things then your public speaking career will have a much better chance of success.

Irrelevant Content

You may have a speech that you know inside out but you must ensure that you tailor your presentation to fit the audience. This will usually just involve changing a couple of things so that your audience can relate more to what you are saying.

Using Technical Terms

It is important to keep your speech simple so that the whole audience can understand everything you are saying and stay interested. As soon as you begin using technical terms which others may not understand then your speech could end up being a disaster.

Too Much Information

When preparing your speech you should make sure that you include the important points and not just chatter away about everything you know on the subject, this way the people in the audience will not lose interest in what you are saying.

Talking Speed

It is important to find a good middle ground when it comes it the speed at which you deliver your speech, because if you end up talking too fast then people will find it hard to keep up with what you are saying. On the other hand though, if you do your speech too slowly then you run the risk of the audience becoming bored and losing interest.

There a few things that you can do to make sure that your speech goes according to plan and also to help you feel more comfortable while delivering the speech, which will make you much more confident. With practice, these tips will help you to improve your public speaking skills and become a much more effective public speaker.

Slides

If you are going to be using slides in your presentation then you must make sure that you have practiced with the equipment before hand and know exactly how everything works otherwise you run the risk of looking like you don’t know what you are doing. But of course, sometimes technology will fail and in those circumstances it is important for you to stay in control and just carry on with the presentation the best you can.

Stories

People love hearing your stories, it enables them to connect with you more. You should also find that talking about your personal experiences is a little easier and you should feel more comfortable.

Mistakes

Try not to get hung up on mistakes. Show that you are in control if you make a mistake by brushing it off and carrying on with confidence, if you do this then people will see that you are in control and they will be much more at ease.

Practice

This seems like an obvious one but the more you practice something the better you will get at it and practice really does make perfect, so just remember that you can never practice enough and with time you will become very effective at public speaking.

If you are fairly new to public speaking and just need a few pointers to get you on your way to becoming a great public speaker then these few tips will be very useful and make your transition into great public speaker very quick and simple.

Personality

It is extremely important to be yourself while on stage and to let your personality shine through. If you do this then the audience will find it much easier to warm to you.

Try To Relax

The more comfortable and relaxed you feel while giving your speech the more fun you will have doing it, and in turn so will your audience. Telling a couple of jokes is a great way to get yourself and your audience more relaxed, but be sure not to over do it with the jokes.

Do Your Homework

Well in advance of delivering your speech you should make sure that you have learnt all that you can about your audience and the industry that you will be delivering the speech to. As well as finding out as much as you can about your audience you must be able to know your topic inside out as well.

Try To Connect With Them

If you are able to spend a little time with your audience before you actually deliver your speech then you can build a relationship with these people, and buy the time you start your speech they will be able to connect with you a lot sooner and in turn they will give you their full attention from the out set.

Being able to achieve effective public speaking is vital in many different careers and can often mean the difference between getting promoted and staying stuck in the same position for years! and that was certainly the case for me. A lot of people will just convince themselves that they are no good at public speaking or that their fears are too great, but the fact of the matter is that anybody can overcome their public speaking fears and deliver very effective public speeches.

One of the first things that you need to do when trying to overcome your public speaking fear is to build up your self confidence and believe in yourself, because if you come across as confident and charismatic then people will see that and be a lot more interested in what you are saying to them. On the other hand if you seem nervous or unsure of yourself them people will definitely pick up on this and will not take you seriously or in a worse case scenario start heckling you which is definitely not what you want. As soon as people see you are not in control they will try and make you look like a fool and once this happens your speech will effectively be over.

So once you have come to terms with the fact that you need to ooze self confidence then you will be ready to move on to the next step in the process which in my case was to get some training in the art of public speaking from professionals who will be able to totally transform you into a very effective public speaker. For more information about learning from professional public speakers at a very reasonable price you should take a look at the guys that helped me, to visit their site click here

Making sure you have an appropriate speech prepared is vital if you are going to give a successful speech, these tips should help you decide which kind of speech is right for the occasion.

There are many different scenarios when it comes to speaking in public and for that reason the type of speech that you do will vary (quite considerably in some cases) between each different circumstance. For example you wouldn’t use the same type of speech at a wedding that you would at lets say a political speech for example.

So it is very important when starting to write your speech to first of all think about what the situation will be, what would work well and what would be a big mistake! If you start at this point when writing for any kind of public speaking at all then you will definitely thank yourself for it when the day arrives.

A lot of the time you will just need to use a little bit of common sense in order to work out what is the right approach for your public speaking appearance. Although sometimes you may need to think a little harder about what your going to talk about. But as long as you make sure your going for the right angle of attack before you start writing your speech then you will have no problems at all.

There are many reasons why people have public speaking fears but you can overcome all of these quite easily if you have the right help and advice.

Public speaking fears are very common these days and it is such a shame. Anybody is able to overcome these fears easily if things are done in the right way. Here are some of the most common reasons as to why people have a fear of public speaking.

People make it sound harder than it is

For a lot of people even just the sound of it will send shivers down their spine, why? well it is mainly because society has forced it on us to be afraid of public speaking which is such a shame.

Being too nervous

Nervousness is a big part of why people find it hard to talk in public and often just getting past this step can have a massive effect on a persons confidence and ability to control the room.

Not knowing what to say

Obviously if you are struggling for things to say while standing in front of a room full of people then needless to say, it’s not going to end well!

Someone asks a question you don’t know the answer to

Being able to stay in control of your audience even if somebody asks you a question which you don’t know the answer to is a tricky skill to master, but once you have the hang of it, it becomes second nature to you.

Having the right amount of confidence is a massive part of public speaking, if you feel confident in yourself and what you are saying then people will warm to you a lot easier.

One of the main reasons that people tend to have a public speaking fear is purely down to the fact that they haven’t got the confidence in order to control the room and keep people listening to them. You could practice your speech for hours and hours day after day but the fact is that unless you have the right amount of confidence when you are stood in front of all those people then it is pretty much doomed to failure, unfortunately.

Being able to have confidence in yourself has a big impact on how good your public speaking will be. So boosting your confidence has got to be one of the first steps to take if you are ever going to be able to become a public speaking pro and have the whole room eating out of your (hopefully not too sweaty) hands.
